Ceramix: Georgia's Creative Claymakers
Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, 2015 - 2016
Georgia is famed for its bountiful clay resources and its pottery history is one of the oldest known for North America. Folk potters did not consider themselves artists but humble artisans, who were in business to provide fellow farmers with functional and sturdy vessels. From this rich tradition grew a strong lineage of potters who continued to refine the craft and create works of lasting beauty. Ceramix highlighted contemporary artists who have come out of this tradition and used the fertile historical past to push the boundaries and broaden the scope of what ceramics can be.
